What is the difference between CLL and SLL?

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) are thought to be the same cancer. The same type of abnormal B cell is seen in both CLL and SLL—the main difference is where they are found. In CLL, many abnormal B cells are found in the blood, bone marrow, spleen, and lymph nodes. In SLL, abnormal B cells are primarily found in the lymph nodes. Treatment is the same for CLL and SLL. Learn more about B cells and white blood cells here.
